AAFCP: Academy Purpose
The American Academy of FertilityCare Professionals, founded in 1981 as the American Academy of Natural Family Planning, incorporated as a non-profit organization in the State of Missouri on April 12, 1982, reidentified its name and purpose on July 26, 2001.
The purpose of the Academy is to foster, advance, and promote the Creighton Model FertilityCare System, NaProTechnology and allied fields through service, education, leadership, and research. The activities are:
- To enhance and maintain the quality of the Creighton Model FertilityCare System by establishing the highest standards of provider education and certification, service delivery and education program accreditation, continuing education, and research and development related to the Creighton Model FertilityCare System;
- To encourage all qualified Creighton Model FertilityCare professionals to participate in the development and maintenance of standards, programs, and procedures of the Creighton Model FertilityCare System;
- To ensure the use of standardized terminology, materials, and instruction by qualified Creighton Model FertilityCare professionals;
- To develop and promote the recognition and acceptance of the Creighton Model FertilityCare System and the new science of NaProTechnology;
- To provide information on the philosophy, science, and art of the Creighton Model FertilityCare System;
- To encourage the participation of all qualified Creighton Model FertilityCare professionals in the work of the Academy;
- To cooperate with providers of natural means for the regulation of fertility in establishing a unified effort for the advancement of the philosophy which supports these approaches; and
- To do any and all lawful acts necessary or desirable to achieve and carry out these activities.
Presently the Academy has some three hundred fifty individuals who comprise the six classes of membership, which include Active, Student, Associate, Special, Honorary, and Organizational.
